Physical precious metals for investors
Precious metals in physical form don’t involve any credit risk. For this reason, many institutional investors such as funds, insurance companies and other investment firms give their customers the option of investing directly in physical precious metals. As a rule, this type of investment does not entail small investor bars, but rather so-called standard bars, which weigh approximately 12.5 kg (400 ounces) for gold and 30 kg (1,000 ounces) for silver.
